Thursday harness racing was conducted at Lord's Raceway Bendigo, with plenty of well supported runners scoring during the evening.

Four year old Aces N Sevens/Torida Bee Jay mare Perfect Tina opened proceedings with a victory in the Glenn Douglas Pace for C1 class over 1650 metres.

Part-owned and trained by Bendigonian John Gilbertson, Perfect Tina with Chris Alford in the sulky settled three back along the markers from gate two, with the well backed favourite Lilbitabrownsugar leading from the pole.

Extricated away from the inside in the last lap to be four wide on the final bend, Perfect Tina raced away on straightening to score by 8.6 metres over Village Peach (seven wide home turn from last), with Village Patrol (four back the markers) third. The mile rate 1-58.6.

Melton co-trainers Maree and John Caldow snared the Daryl Douglas Pacers Handicap for C0 class over 2150 metres with 4-Y-0 Artesian/Miss Saxony gelding Wattadee in a rate of 2-05.1.

Bred and raced by the Hockham family, Wattadee driven by John Caldow possied mid-field in the running line from gate three on the second line, before trailing up Mighty El Lute three wide at the bell which moved to be outside Our Ponzi which had crossed the pacemaker Fist Of Rage in the back straight. Looking likely to be left on a limb for the remainder of the race, Wattadee dashed to the front on the home turn and raced away to score by 8 metres from Untraceable (four wide home turn), with Fist Of Rage coming again to finish third.

Bridgewater’s Col Redwood has a most promising 4-Y-0 Pegasus Spur/Miami Spice gelding by the name of Brynmor who chalked up his 2nd victory in 7 outings by taking the Star Gun Trotters Handicap for T0 class over 2150 metres.

Driven by Maryborough’s Ash Matthews, Brynmor from gate two on the second row settled mid-field in the moving line, becoming pocketed in the last lap as Completed Family moved around him.

Extricated into the clear on the home turn after the pacemaker Apollorita had kicked away with a handy margin, Brynmor finished full of running to score narrowly but well in a rate of 2-05.8, with Jindalbie third from three back in the moving lane.

Peter & Kerryn Manning enjoyed a profitable evening, landing a double with in-form 4-Y-0 mare Flylika Bird Lombo taking the Jason Hackett Pace for C1 class over 2150 metres and 6-Y-0 gelding Join The Circus the Staffordshire Park Trotters Mobile for T3 to T5 class over the same journey.

Flylika Bird Lombo (Jet Laag/Decethree Lombo) made a lightning move from mid-field in the running line to lead at the bell in accounting for Waterslide which trailed after leading and a death-seating Centonic in 2-00.2.

Join The Circus coming off an unplaced effort in a metro affair at Melton three weeks earlier after leading and galloping on straightening, settled five back in the moving line from gate, before immediately being sent forward to park outside the front runner Makemcry Maori.

Applying plenty of pressure approaching the home turn, Join The Circus proved much too strong over the concluding stages for Makemcry Maori and Sunset Truscott along the sprint lane from three back the markers.

Bred and raced by Merv & Meg Butterworth, Join The Circus (Conch Deville/Gina Dawn) returned a mile rate of 2-03.6.

Smythes Creek (Ballarat) mentor Peter Tonkin landed the TAB Daily Double with Ronald George and Im Outtahere, both odds-on favourites driven by Australia’s leading reinsman of last season Daryl Douglas.

Ronald George (Village Jasper/Genuine Lover) led throughout from outside the front row in the Bertocchi Smallgoods Pace for C2 & C3 class over 1650 metres, accounting for a death-seating Village Spy and Peaces Of You (three wide last lap) in 1-56.4, with Im Outtahere (Washington Vc/Raid The Pantry) doing similar from the 10 metre mark in the Composed Pacers Handicap for C4 or better class over 2150 metres, defeating Igetaround (three wide last lap from near last) and Whos Mistake which trailed the winner after leading out. The mile rate 2-02.3.

Kilmore’s Rita Burnett was successful with 4-Y-0 Blissful Hall/Newbold Penny gelding Wetzler in the Become A B.H.R.C.Member Pace for C1 class over 1650 metres in a rate of 1-58.8.

Trained and driven by Rita, Wetzler starting from the extreme draw settled miles back from the extreme draw, before following up Covered In Ink three wide in the final circuit.

Despite being right off the track on the home turn, Wetzler ran home stylishly to gain the day in advance of Bubble Art along the sprint lane off the back of the third placegetter and leader Bring The Brolly.
