The first win by Im The Debt Collector (The Debt Collector in NZ) in a minor race at Globe Derby Park in Adelaide on Tuesday night (July 12) was much more significant than it may first appear. This win marked the 100th individual winner by harness racing's super sire Bettor's Delight.
From his first major crop in New Zealand of 254 live foals which are currently 3 year olds (winners in New Zealand and NZ bred horses exported to Australia).
This means Bettor's Delight has already achieved virtually 40% of winners to live foals in NZ - a percentage most stallions only dream about for their lifetime!
In addition Bettor's Delight has a further 80 qualifiers from this crop giving him a 70% ratio of qualifiers to live foals.
Perhaps just as significant is the fact that 62 of this crop has been exported to Australia proving how popular his progeny are across the Tasman.
Broodmare sires are spread around all of New Zealand's leading broodmare sires but are dominated bywith 18 then , and each with 8.
The quality of mares he has attracted each subsequent year at stud has significantly increased so there is certainly no reason to think the juggernaut is going to slow down soon.
Bettor's Delight is currently only $186k behindon the overall Leading Sires list for this season (and over double the third placed ) so there is certainly reason to think that he may well dominate the sires lists for a long time to come.
