What a day for champion harness racing sire Bettor's Delight, not only has he sired the winner of three pacing jewels winners, he is also the sire of Donegal Bettorgretch who was victorious in the Harness Jewels $100,000 Group 1 Sovereignty 3YO Ruby Trot.
“Even with the favourite galloping, I still felt this fella was travelling better than him and would have won anyway. It's a great result for Murray Boyd and Cran.” said Dexter Dunn.
Those comments from our leading driver, Dexter Dunn, say it all, after the Cran Dalgety trained trotter recorded her first Group 1 victory.
“If you had said to me 10 or so years ago when I started out that I would be training trotters I would have scoffed and laughed at you. Bloody things I thought!
I once said, if you ever see me racing or breeding trotters, shoot me – and now look at me, I've got one of the favourites for the Jewels” Boyd said.
Donegal Bettorgretch took her earnings to just over $80,000, from 13 starts.
Winning Time & Margin: 1-57.00MR, with a ¾ lengths back to Wilma's Mate in 2nd and 3 ½ lengths back to Conon Bridge in 3rd.
