Two meetings of the Harness Racing New Siouth Wales Carnival of Cups series are set down for action this weekend at Broken Hill and Orange.
For the first time in its proud history, the Broken Hill Club will host a prestigious Carnival of Cups meeting.
Scheduled for this Friday night the meeting will boast a seven race programme with the feature being the running of the $10,000 Coughlan Drilling Cup over 2500 metres.
Broken Hill Club senior vice president Tony Camilleri has no doubt the meeting will be the club’s biggest night of the year.
“It is a full TAB meeting with Sky Racing 2 coverage and Greg Hayes live trackside,” Camilleri says proudly.
The Club will offer patrons a six-race card with total prizemoney of $30,000, including $10,000 for the feature race.
Camilleri says the meeting will be promoted as a family night with jumping castles, merry-go-rounds and mini-trotters.
“The night will have a mineral exploration theme as all of our major sponsors are mineral exploration companies.”
Two days later the Orange HRC will spring into action with a fun filled St Patricks Day Sunday afternoon program.
The meeting will also have full Sky and TAB coverage and NSW number one harness broadcaster, Fred Hastings, will be trackside to call all of the action.
The $12,000 Kents Hardware Banjo Patterson is the highlight along with the $10,000 Orange HRC Junior Drivers Invitation race.
At both meetings patrons will be in with a chance of winning a $10,000 Travel Voucher.
