Attention, all harness racing tracks! I assume all track operators, are keeping a close eye, on the recent success, at Balmoral, outside Chicago. Their attempt, in using the pick five/ pick six, carry over bet, is extremely improving their total handle, per night.

In this era, of "Get rich quick" lottery scenario's, where everyone like the feeling of chance, to place one dollar bets, to make thousands, I think all racetracks should begin marketing and implementing, the CARRY OVER BET.

I have a couple of interesting thoughts and suggestions to share. I like the idea of having one average race, nightly, where the HORSE PICKS THE DRIVER. In other words, your leading driver may have the chance to draw the longest shot in that race. In this same race, the tracks should increase the purse 25% to entice the owners and trainers to participate, and have a guarantee pool of $5,000, or $10,000.

Then, implementing, THE CARRY OVER BET, have fifty cent or dollar wagering for the patrons, to pick the exact order of finish, one through eight, one through nine, depending on the track. If no one has the exact order of finish, then 50% of the pool, goes to the people, who has the most exact order of finishes, and 50%of the pool is carried over to the next racing day.

I have approached many trainers and drivers, at Chester, and at the Pocono's, with this concept, and have received much positive feedback. In closing, we must find new ways, to learn to survive, on our own, keep the integrity of our sport intact, and not rely, on the casino's, so much. .
