Record setter for wins in a year, Tim Tetrick, will be present tonight (March 29) at Balmoral Park. Tim will be honored with a bobblehead giveaway this evening on track, along with a meet and greet session in which fans get to meet the 26 year old record setter.
TIM TETRICK HONORED FRIDAY NIGHT AT BALMORAL
In winning 1,188 races Tetrick also compiled a record $18,343,367 in purse earnings.
It wasn't long ago when Tim cut his racing teeth here in Chicago and moved to the east coast, Tim is from Geff, Illinois and his brother is a current Chicagoland driver.
You will want to be part of the festivities by getting to your local OTB early and not miss a thing.
We'll try to get to winning early on this evenings card. Race one sees ten lower level claimers pacing for $3,250.
Farouk Hanover looks to be the prohibitive favorite entering this contest and that looks to be justified. Farouk won eight of twenty seven in 2007 and with Oosting doing it all, this one should be heavily played.
Shadow of Lightning comes out of the nine hole with red hot connections right now. I like this geldings chances despite the gate position. I will put $50 on the eight, Wake Up Mike.
I am hoping this horse does just that, wake up, to a big price to boot. I’m hoping Shadow of Lightning provides ample cover for Wake Up Mike to get up in time.
The third race is one of the more interesting contests of the evening.
Sailors Sky looks like he can be the pacesetter and possibly shake free for an easy win.
However, Urbino Hanover has looked awfully impressive in his last two trips to the track and could possibly see another win here. However, the morning line second choice, Mud on the Tires, cannot be overlooked. This gelding just couldn’t hang on in his first local contest after shipping in from the Meadowlands. Mud on the Tires looks very game tonight.
Ascot Bourbon also has an outside shot to win as well. I will put $50 on Mud on the Tires to win and win rather convincingly.
Hell, so convincingly, I’ll make it a $100 to win on Mud on the Tires.
In tonights seventh race there may be some opportunity for some value, with Charles Von Knoblaugh sending out another first time Balmoral starter from New Zealand.
The four, Beau Rivage could pop in his first asking. This gelding is coming off an impressive qualifier and Dave Magee is getting the drive. $50 to win on the four, Beau Rivage N.
The highlight of tonights card is the Free For All tenth, with eight of the best pacers on the grounds chasing the gate for the winners share of $21,000.
All entries have been pacing pretty consistently and all have a shot here.
However, at this level the trio of Anvilanunoit N, Chris Riley and Fox Valley Gambler all trading FFA photos over the last six weeks. However, these three have to start a little further outside this week then in past weeks.
Joe Anderson sends a pair gateward to try to break up their dominance of this level pacers. I can’t see it happening for Joe. My selection here will be the six, Anvilanunoit, with $50 to win in a mild upset.
Don’t forget next weekend features the Isle of Capri from Pompano Park.
This is the first major stakes race for older pacers of the year and figures to be a good contest.
Make sure to get the the OTB this weekend where there is always a chance to GET LUCKY…HAVE FUN…and WIN MONEY.
