The Philippe Allaire trained, Frederik Saugue bred and owned, Jos. Verbeeck reined Brillantissime took today's Gr. II Prix Maurice de Gheest in 1.16.3kr with a rapid closing brush. The 120,000 euro purse, 2750 meter test for three year-old males, provided a tight finish as the winner rallied behind cover of stablemate Bird Parker to nail his rival on the line. Pierre Vercruysse moved Bird Parker early and sat outside Franck Anne's Bolide du Gueron for the last mile before putting away that rival in mid-stretch, but it set up perfectly for Brillantissime. Both colts are by Ready Cash.
