Dover, DE – Chipoffthewall swept to victory in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old Male Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Tim Tetrick drove three winners.
With North America's second-leading driver, Tony Morgan, at the controls, the altered black son of Master Lavec-Off the Wall again dominated the DSBF freshman ranks while setting a new track record for age, gender and gait of 1:58.4 posting his fifth win in his last six outings.
The only mar on his recent record is in the $100,000 DSBF Final at Harrington where after reaching the finish line with 9 ½ lengths to spare, but was taken down and placed last for an early race interference.
Veteran horseman Syl King leases and trains Chipoffthewall, who now has earned $101,440 this campaign. Longshot Seafood Scrappy (Ross Wolfenden) finished second. Boston Malibu (Allan Davis) took show money.
On the regular program in a $15,500 3,4&5-Year-OldFilly and Mare pace, Bob Bailey's sharp Duneside Chella, trained by Ryan Bailey, made it two wins-in-a-row winning the stretch battle in 1:52.4 giving Tony Morgan his second win of the day. American Truth (Tim Tetrick) nosed out Sweet Bobbie by a nose for second place.
Elliesjet N remains undefeated after five starts in the U.S. as Art Stafford Jr. piloted the Jereme's Jet-Elle Mary Rose six-year-old black mare to a 1:52.4 triumph in a $14,000 distaff pace for young females. Art Stafford Jr. steered the winner for trainer Josh Parker, Evans, Spedden and Nanticoke Race own the New Zealand import. Playcardswithroddy (George Dennis) was runner-up. Lady Beth (Wolfenden) was third.
Bay Pond Racing's Hearts N Flowers got up in 1:52.3 to win the $14,000 mares Winners Over pace with Allan Davis driving for trainer Wayne Givens. Tyra (Tetrick) was second with Handsoffmycookie (Morgan) third. It was the eighth win this year in 36 starts for the Artiscape-Hasty Dewar six-year-old.
Tim Tetrick went off at 21-1 driving Powerful Honey in a Delaware $5,000 Mares pace. Tetrick rallied the six-year-old Powerful Toy-Honeycakes distaff from seventh after the half, to loop the field on the way to a 1:56.1 victory for trainer Willard Reynolds and owners Howard and Linda Dege. Coupled with Smile Cam (George Dennis) the 6-2 exacta returned $466.30 and with Quick Pulse Daisy (Vic Kirby), third, the 6-28 trifecta paid $2,173.
The fourth and final 2015 $100,000 DSBF two-year-old title event spotlights the filly pacers in the Wednesday feature race. There is no live racing on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are dark live racing days at Dover Downs.
