Displaying plenty of potential at two, Michael Polansky’s Sherrie’s Delight finished 2004 with three wins, one place, and three shows from eight starts.

But, that was only a prelude to what is turning out to be a world-class sophomore year.

For the fifth time, in as many 2005 starts, Sherrie’s Delight, trained by Tom Harmer, crossed the wire in the Customize Series, Leg 2, a one-mile trot for 3-year-old colts and geldings conceived and foaled in Illinois, in full control. The winning margin was only three-quarters’ of a length but driver Tony Morgan was just sitting chilly and never really had to ask this colt for anything.

Utilizing a ground-saving trip early, Morgan edged him out around the half, got him to the lead by the three-quarters and it was pretty much the ballgame at that point.

Brookview Flame, with Richard Schrock in the bike, made a valiant effort but there was no way he was getting past.

With fractions of :28.2, :58.1, and 1:28.4 for the first three quarters, Sherrie’s Delight came home in :28.2 and stopped the clock at 1:57.1

Sherrie’s Delight paid $3.00 for the win and earned $4,500 for his connections.

Leg 3 of the Customize Series, with a purse of $10,000 takes place on July 25th with the Final, worth an estimated $100,000 on August 5th.
