CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – In what has been a common theme so far this season, the harness racing Marc Campbell stable will send out a powerful duo in the featured event Friday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 10-dash Friday card starts off at 6 P.M. with the $2,850 Preferred 2 pace lining up in race 9. The Campbell pair of post 4 starter Jetster (To driven by Adam Merner) and post 6 newcomer Time To Dance (Campbell) has the respect of the top two picks on the morning line odds. Jetster was victorious in this class last Friday with Campbell at the lines while Time To Dance delivered a five-length romp in his first East Coast assignment down a notch on the class ladder for owners Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matthew McDonald of Edwards, Ont.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac elects to go a different direction as he sides with the red hot Brittany Watts stable and post 2 starter Creepinn (David Dowling).
"Creepin lost his cover at the half last week which left him first up the rest of the way and that's back-to-back starts he's had to rough it," MacIsaac said. "He still got home in 28 and change though and with a smoother journey tonight he's a potential sleeper."
Also in the preferred 2 field are Mantario (Kenny Arsenault), Beyondthesilence N (Chris Davies), Winter Blast (Jason Hughes) and Hes Marvalous (Myles Heffernan Sr.).
The Open trot renews again on Thursday with a field of six top-flight trotters competing for the lion's share of the $2,500 purse. Freddie leaves on the far outside after delivering a mild upset in this class last week for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. The 61-time winning Majestic Son trotter will have to overcome Glider Man, who will be looking for redemption from post 5 after falling short as the heavy post time favourite last week for the duo of driver Kenny Arsenault and trainer Jennifer Doyle. Hop Up takes a two-race win streak into the event leaving from post 2 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Keith Campbell. The field is rounded out by Supreme Monarch (Mike McGuigan), Windemeredontuworry (Norris Rogers) and Star Photo (Hughes).
