Many harness racing fans were again left searching for superlatives to describe the brilliant Carabella as she won the $125,000 Group One New Zealand Oaks at Addington Raceway tonight (Friday May 20th).

In the hands of Ricky May, Carabella made a mid-race move to get handy before bounding to the lead in the home straight, the daughter of Bettor's Delight was two and a half lengths clear of Donegal Delight at the line, third home was Miss Moonlite.

The winning time for the Carabella was 3.11.7, a mile-rate of 1.58.6, the final sectionals in 59.7 and 28.3. Trained at Kaiapoi by Brendon Hill, Carabella has now won 12 of 13 starts, with career earnings of close to $500,000.
