Prominent harness racing owner Peter Chambers is fast becoming a major player in our industry. The well respected Aussie entrepreneur was back in the winners circle today (Thursday) when Another Player scored a decisive victory at the Invercargill Harness Racing Club's meeting.

Driven by Craig Thornley and trained by his partner Joanne Burrows,Another Player was sent out a warm favourite and had to withstand a solid late charge from second favourite Pattisun in order to record her fourth win from just eight starts.

The well bred daughter of Dr Ronerail was purchased out of the Gavin Mills barntowards the end of last season by Chambers, on a recommendation by Craig Thornley. "Being a half sister to Play On Craig obviously took a great deal of interest in her performances and we managed to secure her for Peter," said trainer Joanne Burrows. Thornley won the 2005 Interdominion Grand Final behind the son of Bellam, one of 14 career wins forformer trainer and harness racing starter Peter Lamb.

"She's alot more physically mature than Play On was at the same stage, he took a long-time to mature. She's slightly different gaited too, her gait is quite extravagant in front but she is getting better all the time," said Mrs Burrows. Another Player will continue to race in the deep South during Christmas and New Year before returning to Canterbury for a four year old trotters series sponsored by her owner. "Peter really likes to put some money back into harness racing and particularly loves his trotters. There will be three heats starting in February followed by a final."

Although not present on course to witness the win first hand, the busy Peter Chambersalways findstime to follow his passion, says Joanne. "It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is you can guarantee he will beglued to a TV set or the internet somewhere. He spoke to Craig soon after and was really rapt with the horse and he's hoping to be back in New Zealand in January."

Two races later Craig Thornleyreturned tothe winners circle, this timewith the Steve McRae trained Franco Legionnaire. The son of Falcon Seelster gave Thornley a double for the meeting before catching a flight back to Christchurch for tonight's Addington meeting, where he will team up with another Peter Chambers owned runner in Jumanji Franco, also trained by Joanne Burrows.
