Champion sires represented at Bathurst sale

Many of the leading harness racing sires in Australia and New Zealand are represented by stock in the 2013 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale to be conducted by Davidson Cameron & Co on Sunday, March 24 at the Bathurst Showground.

The sale is an integral part of the Bathurst Gold Crown carnival and has been the nursery of several Gold Crown and Tiara champions and countless ‘black type’ winners.

Forty-four different stallions have progeny in the sale.

Art Major, Australia’s leading juvenile sire last season, has three fillies nominated including a daughter of the Victoria Premiere Stakes winner As It Is In Heaven, while Courage Under Fire, fourth on the 2012 All Aged list, has two lots.

Multiple premiership-winning sires Village Jasper (10 lots), Armbro Operative (4), Aces N Sevens (4), and Live Or Die (1) are also represented in the catalogue.

The Breeders Crown winner Flightpath has the biggest draft in the sale with 18 lots.

Other well known stallions with strong representation are Tinted Cloud (8 lots), Jereme’s Jet (8), Modern Art (7), Badlands Hanover (5), Four Starzzz Shark (3) and Grinfromeartoear (3).

There’s some big names among the sires being represented by their first Australian crop at the sale. They include the Little Brown Jug winners Million Dollar Cam (11 lots), Passmaster Hanover (7), Shadow Play (1) and Tell All (1), the North America Cup winner Sportswriter (6 lots), the Cane Pace winner Always A Virgin (6) and NZ star Changeover (1) All yearlings nominated for the sale will be eligible for the Sales Graduate races with $14,000 finals for two-year-old colts and fillies at Bathurst in February/March 2014.

They are also eligible for the Breeders Crown, NSW Breeders Challenge, NSW Breeders Bonus, Bathurst Gold Crown and Tiara, Vicbred, QLD Bred and The Lombo.
