Talented mare Vertigal - is the horse in question

The Alabar New South Wales Breeders Challenge for three-year-old's was staged at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 28 May. The fillies harness racing division was taken out by last year's two-year-old Alabar NSW Breeders Challenge winner Vertigal; she is a daughter of Western Hanover stallion Western Terror, who stood at Alabar's New Zealand Stud. Vertigal, a $177k winner is out of Height Of Wisdom, a Stature daughter of Athenas Art.

She is the only foal out of Height Of Wisdom, while grand dam Athenas Art won 10 of her 22 race starts.

Vertigal was bred by Adrian Molloy, Ben Astill and Andy Meyers and was sold privately to current Molloy and Astill who maintain ownership.

She is trained by current Metropolitan Trainer Premiership leader David Thorn who also steered her to victory at the short price of $1.30.

The winner of the colts & geldings division was Brick Top; he is a son of Artsplace super stallion Art Major; who stands at Alabar’s Echuca headquarters.

He is out of $100k earner Machinegun Molly, an Armbro Operative daughter of Phantoms Gold.

Brick Top stems from a high performing family. Grand dam Phantoms Gold is the dam of Machomical ($44k), Hes A Player ($44k), Miss Bigalow ($34k). While Miss Bigalow has left $71k performer Big Fella Mach.

Brick Top was bred by Sloys Company Pty Ltd who has maintained ownership.

The gelding is trained by Susan Hunter, while Josh Willick was in the sulky for the $1.30 victory.

The next set of three-year-old Alabar NSW Breeders Challenge heats will be conducted at Tamworth on Saturday, 4 June; semi finals will be conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night, 18 June, with the finals to be conducted a week later at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Sunday, 26 June.
