Star Queensland three-year-old Governor Jujon looks set to claim another feature next week.
The Grant Dixon trained and driven gifted youngster scored a dominant victory last night (Wednesday) at Redcliffe in the 2020 Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sales Series Prelude defeating Which Hunt and Sir Jujon in a time of 1:56.3.
Last season, Governor Jujon claimed the Gr.1 $100,000 Final in brilliant fashion.
The $35,520 3yo Final is scheduled for Friday week (June 19).
Unbeaten in four starts at the triangular track, Governor Jujon is looking to join Regulus as winner of both features.
Raced by Dr John Mammino, the Cammibest – Fifth And Broadway colt was purchased for $18,000 from the Burwood Stud draft at the 2018 Redcliffe Sale.
Since returning from an extended interstate campaign earlier this season, Governor Jujon is unbeaten in four starts including the recent Gr.2 $50,660 QBRED Triad at Albion Park on May 23.
Overall, Governor Jujon has won 13 of his 18 starts while banking more than $250,000 in stakes.
Meanwhile, exciting rookie pacer Manila Playboy pressed his claims for the upcoming Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sales 2yo Series with a stylish trial prior to the race meeting.
Prepared by Shane Fraser and handled by Kelli Dawson, the Pet Rock – Bangkok Dancer gelding rated 2:00.7 defeating another talented type in Justa Little Bit who is also aiming for the series.
Manila Playboy finished at the rear of the field at his most recent start when a heavily backed favourite in the Listed $25,550 QBRED Breeders Classic 2yo Colts & Geldings Final at Albion Park on May 23 after making a break when challenging for the lead near the 400m mark.
In his debut, he rated 1:56.4 when scoring by a widening margin.
Manila Playboy was an $8000 buy back from the 2019 Redcliffe Yearling Sale.
The 2yo Heats will take place on Friday week, part of the big program that includes the 3yo Final.
The Gr.1 $100,570 Final will take place on Saturday, June 27.
