There is a tight battle going on at the top of the New Zealand harness racing training premiership.
Last years premiership winners Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen on 25 wins currently hold a narrow lead of just one over Greg and Nina Hope on 24 wins.
Mark and Natalie headed into cup week fourth on the premiership and 5 wins behind, but a 10 horse winning spree last week saw them surge past Greg and Nina and they now lead by one heading into this week. Barry Purdon is currently sitting in third place on 21 wins and Robert Dunn is fourth on 18 wins.
The drivers premiership is equally as close with Dexter Dunn on 43 wins holding a slim one win lead over Blair Orange on 42 wins with a gap back to Ricky May in third on 24 wins.
