Bankstown Paceway is still looking forward to hosting the 30th running of the Treuer Memorial on December 1 this year despite the New South Wales Harness Racing Club wanting to move the time-honoured Group One event to March next year.

In a SYDNEY MORNING HERALD story today (Monday May 21) Chris ROOTS said the move was part of the proposed race dates that are yet to received final approval from the Harness Racing NSW board.

‘Sydney's harness racing home, Bankstown Paceway, looks forward to hosting the historic 30th running of the M. H. Treuer Memorial (Group 1) Grand Circuit Event on Saturday, December 1st, 2012,' Bankstown Paceway director Andrew Ho told Harnesslink this morning (monday May 21).

"Speculative media reports at the weekend claiming that the next Treuer Memorial will follow the Interdominion in March 2013 appear to based on an outdated draft version of the NSW race dates," Ho told Harnesslink.

"We also completely reject claims that the Treuer Memorial should serve as a lead up event to another NSW race. This is offensive to the memory of the late Bankstown Harness Racing Club founder, his leadership in our industry and sport, and, indeed, to everyone who has worked to uphold his legacy for over half a century," Ho said.

"Bankstown Paceway looks forward to welcoming all Australasian and international harness racing fans back on track for the 30th Treuer this December," Ho added.

The historic 30th M. H. Treuer Memorial (Group 1) Grand Circuit Gala Race Night will be held on Saturday, December 1st, 2012, at Sydney's harness racing home, Bankstown Paceway, 178 Eldridge Road, Bankstown.
