Today's Moonee Valley thoroughbred fixture had to be rescheduled, but tomorrow night's much-anticipated Farewell to the Valley harness racing meeting will proceed. Cockatoos destroyed wiring in some of the light towers surrounding the Moonee Valley gallops track, but Harness Racing Victoria chief executive John Anderson stressed that there was no issue with the harness light towers.
"The harness lights are completely separate to the the gallops lights and have not been affected by the cockatoos," Anderson said.
"The Victorian harness industry is looking forward to giving Moonee Valley the send-off it deserves as scheduled."
Harness racing will bid goodbye to the venue it called home for almost 34 years with one of the highest-quality meetings Moonee Valley has seen.
Group 1 features of the 10-race card commencing at 6pm are the $400,000 BIG6 Hunter Cup, $250,000 SEW-Eurodrive Inter Dominion Trotting Championship Final and $200,000 Alabar Victoria Derby.
