The annual all trotters day at Coolamon on Anzac Day is another leg of the KS Black & Co Carnival Of Cups.

The feature event is the $25,000 La Coocaracha, a Gr. 3 race for the mares and Sydney horseman Blake Fitzpatrick is set to take a strong team to compete at the meeting including the former kiwi Im Ready Set.

“Im Ready Set Is a very nice mare from New Zealand that I trialled on Tuesday at Menangle and at this stage she will be heading to Coolamon for the La Coocaracha but she hasn’t raced since December last year,” Fitzpatrick said.

“She’s got a lot of ability and like most good mares she has a bit of an attitude but she is pretty smart and I’m looking forward to her having her first run for my stable next Thursday.”

Fitzpatrick expects Duchess Ella, Elle Galleon, Vincennes and two year old My Valerie to also represent his stable at Coolamon, a meeting that is traditionally targeted by trainers from New South Wales and Victoria.

“I could be taking as many as five horses for the meeting, the day provides trainers with trotters a great opportunity to race for the strong Carnival Of Cups prizemoney, I went down twelve months ago and decided to target it again this year and one of my owners, Pat Driscoll, was very keen to be part of the day.”

Colourful South Australian commentator Ray Fewings will be calling the meeting following on from Jim Jacques and Mark McNamara who have been guest callers at the all trotters day in the past two years. There is a dinner being held on April 24th in Coolamon for people travelling to the meeting and for tickets and more information contact Helen Turner on 0427 200 873.

Nominations for the La Coocaracha and the eight support races including the NSW Country Trotters Derby, NSW Country Trotter Oaks, Coolamon Cup and Young Trouper close on Friday at 10am.

Just by being on course at Coolamon on Anzac Day, one lucky patron will go into the draw to win a brand new Toyota Yaris to be announced at the Harness Racing New South Wales Awards Night in October.
