Monticello, NY – It is beginning to sound like a broken record but the tune remains the same, yesterday it was Michael Merton who won 4 races, today (Nov. 17) it was Cory Stratton's turn as he did 1 better and won 5 races on the 11 race card at Monticello Raceway.
Cory's owned the middle of the card sweeping races 3,4 and 5, his banner day started aboard Notagain (PP5) who was 5 length winner over Hoopla Hanover in 2:01.2 – $3.80, the daughter of Dragon Again notched her 3 win of the year for trainer Paul Roy.
Next up was Iwillmakeyousaywow, the 8 year old Manhardt gelding is trained by Todd Buter who won in 1:58.4 for his 3rd seasonal win. Swan in The Valley would account for win #3 for Stratton, who romped home another easy 5 length winner in 2:01.3, Cory also trains Swan In The Valley who upped his seasonal earnings above $20,000 for owners The Signature Stable of Mechanicville, NY.
In the Open Pace it was Ohoka Johnny N in 1:56, the fastest mile of the day, the New Zealand import notched his 8th win of the year for owner Team Tritton, the win also gave Stratton a training triple on the afternoon.
In the last race of the day Cory was driving the even money favorite Im A Director N, leaving from post 7, Cory went wire to wire to win in 1:56.2, the win also gave Cory a training triple and owner's Team Tritton a triple. It was the 3rd win in a row for the son of Courage Under Fire.
The 28 year old Stratton is in 8th place for leading dash winning drivers.
Trainer Dan Gill scored a training double on the afternoon, Gill is currently in 5th place for leading dash winning trainers.
