If at first you don't succeed, try try again. How many times have you heard that growing up? Plenty. After being nosed in his Plainridge harness racing debut last week by Lazer Zone, Paul Battis' star trotter, Cranmeadow Express didn't disappoint yesterday.

He posted his 11th win in 14 trips to the post and ran his career mark to 11-2-1, his wins mostly coming from a string of triumphs in last falls Maine Sires Stakes.

Driven by hall of famer Battis who hails from Dover, N.H., his latest Plainridge performance upped his earings to $67,000 in just 14 starts.

Oddly enough Lazer Zone who raced in another field paid $23.20 on a two dollar winning wager and $47 to win when he nipped Cranmeadow Express.

Racing returns to Plainridge Thursday with its usual 4 p.m. post.
