Creatine won the $286,500 Carl Erskine Trot at Hoosier Park

After being unable to find any clearance and losing by a neck to Spider Blue Chip in the $500,000 Breeders Crown, Creatine and driver Mike Lachance were able to reverse that role and hand Spider Blue Chip a head loss Saturday in the $286,500 Carl Erskine Trot at Hoosier Park.

It was as simple as playing catch me if you can. Lachance sent Creatine to the front with Spider Blue Chip (Ron Pierce) on their backs while Creatine cut fractions of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.2 to the three-quarters mile marker.

Meanwhile, E L Rocket (Yannick Gingras) came first-over at the half and gave cover on the outside to Tirade Hanover (Dave Miller) but they were unable to collar the race leader.

Then in the stretch Spider Blue Chip and Pierce mounted their charge at Creatine and Lachance but Creatine proved to be the strong horse tonight and just held on at the finish in 1:54.3. Dewycolorintheline (Mark Macdonald) closed well to be third.

Trained by Bob Stewart and bred and owned by the Diamond Creek Racing Stable of Wellsville, PA, it was the eighth win in sixteen starts for the son of Andover Hall. Sent off as the 2-1 second choice in the race, Creatine paid $6.00 to win.
