It seemed like June with the temperature in the mid seventies at the Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville Ma., but it really was October and Indian Summer decided to pay a visit to the area for a few days. That was just fine with D.T. Sumner who was able to corral a three bagger on the eight -strong harness racing card.
He started it off in the third race trot aboard Mom`s Angel ($13.60) for owner/trainer Joel Wheeler of Pepperell, MA in a time of 2:00, in the sixth race aboard Spastic ($10.80) for trainer Patricia Sumner and owners Anthony Scussel of Enfield, CT and Frank Canzone of Bronxville, NY in a time of 1:56 and lastly aboard the seventh race trotter Magic Spice ($16.20) for owner/trainer Patricia Sumner of Bloomfield CT. in a time of 1:58.4.
To the betting public that had confidence in D.T. Sumner, whos is ranked fifth in the driver`s wins category, they were paid very handsomely with his three winners.
Racing continues at Plainridge on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and qualifiers on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
