DOVER, Del. — Dover Downs first harness racing draw takes place on Tuesday, (Oct. 25) for races opening day, Monday, Oct. 31. The Tuesday, Nov 1, draw is Wednesday, Oct. 26.
For those seeking to qualify, horses must be dropped-in on Tuesdays for Wednesdays qualifying races. The first qualifying races are set for Oct. 26.
During the first week of racing only, Monday, Oct. 31 through Thursday, Nov. 3, please note, the Race Office will be open from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. sharp.
Dover Downs Race secretary Rod Newhart condition sheets reveals the weekly format for major races during the 20116-2017 meet. On opening day, Monday, Oct. 31, the feature race is a $30,000 Preferred pace and several Open paces. On Tuesdays this season, the feature will be a $20,000 Filly and Mare Open pace. The week's top event for diagonally gaited performers, a $20,000 Open trot, will highlight Wednesdays programs.
Starting, Monday, Oct, 31, the Race Office will accept entries from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon sharp. There are no exceptions.
Monday, Oct. 31 is the date to enter freshman nomenees to the lucrative Matron Stakes for two-year-old male and female trotters and pacers . The Matron Three-Year-Old Colt and Gelding pace and trot will be held the following Thursday.

This season's daily racing schedule in November only, will include Sunday racing with post time at 5:30 p.m. On weekdays during the season, Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing on Friday and Saturday.
Simulcasting of harness and thoroughbred racing and NFL three-game wagering is available daily from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight. There is no charge for parking and admission.
