Assuming Hurricane Joaquin continues on its projected path east of the Mid-Atlantic, the first 2-year-old stakes of the year for Delaware sired horses will get underway Monday (October 5) at the harness racing meeting at Harrington Raceway.
Four divisions of filly pacers will go to post Monday, slated as the 3rd, 5th, 9th and 10th races on the 13-race program.
The fastest thus far, though she hasn't made a pari-mutuel start to date, would be Mr Apples-sired Apple Bottom Jeans (3-1, Montrell Teague), who comes off a sporty 1:55.2 triumph in a qualifier at Harrah's Philadelphia on September 15 for trainer Kevin Switzer.
Pacing colts and geldings will have their turn on Tuesday with three divisions, while both sexes of trotters will compete on Wednesday in two divisions apiece.
The newly dubbed Delaware Showcase night on October 21 will display the top performers from the two rounds of elimination races in four $100,000 final events, and $20,000 consolations.
