DOVER, Del. — A pair of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 2nd leg prelims and a top $21,000 Fillies and Mares Open/Handicap pace top the Tuesday, Nov. 17 program at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
Chipoffthewall, seeks to make amends for his performance in the $100,000 DSBF Final at Harrington last month where he was taken down for interference after what was an open-lengths 1;59.4 victory. Tony Morgan will be behind the freshman black gelding. In the first race of the day. Chris Yochim's Mondello, place first in the final, is in the hands of Art Stafford Jr. Virginia state champion Elton J, owned by Jane Dunavant, starts from the rail.
In the second DSBF division, Boston Malibu, owned by trainer Bob Shahan and Don Marine won the $20,000 DSBF Harrington consolation with Allan Davis in the bike to give him a win, a second and a third in four starts this season. Seafood Scrappy has post 1 with Brett Miller driving for Seafood Delight and J&M Stable. Deborah Warnick's Popcorn Machine with Jim Morand is another contender. The other starters are Bill Hall and trainer Brian Wright's Chrome Master, piloted by Eddie Jeff Demiere's That's My Command, handled by Tony Morgan) and Dave Nelson's Overnight Shipper, with George Dennis driving.
The rest of the program spotlights filly and mare paces. In the first $14,000 distaff Winners-Over feature, Chris White's Fashion Showdown (Tony Morgan), fresh from a win last week catching Howard Taylor's sharp Shine N Shimmer ( Corey Callahan) by a nose. Classy Paradise Lost (Vic Kirby), a winner of two straight and three of four, drew the rail while CC Racing's Tyra (Tim Tetrick), a winner of two of her last three races, leaves from post 8. Matinee Dragon (Art Stafford Jr.), is also a winner of two of her last three, and gets a better post this week. Jeff and Dave Clark's Angel Or Terror (George Dennis), Legacy Racing's Angel Or Terror (Allan Davis) and BJ's Sweetheart (Morgan) complete the solid lineup.
Spedden, Evans, Parker and Nanticoke Racing's import Ellies Jet N (A.Stafford Jr.), a winner of his two starts since arriving from New Zealand, has the rail and is program favorite in the other !4,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Filly and Mare pace. Playncardswitroddy, owned by trainer-driver George and Tina Dennis and ASK W Stable, Terra Terror (Morgan) racing for trainer Brian Malone and Teresa Wilson, Chris White's Fashion Villager (Corey Callahan) and Bob Shahan's Hardscrabble Tilly (A.Davis), will be there to test the newcomer.
The Wednesday program features the week's top trotters in the feature race. Four rich Matron Stakes for three-year-old trotters and pacers and a DSBF colt pace 2nd leg, are in the Thursday spotlight.
DOVER, Del. — The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund two-Year-Old Filly Trot moved into second-leg prelim action with Cicada’s Song and Miss Baltimore posting wins. Little Ben scored a lifetime best 1:49.3 winning the $18,000 Open Handicap at Dover Downs on Monday, Nov. 16.
After being scratched from last week’s prelim, Cicada’s Song continues her winning ways collecting her sixth victory in seven career races romping to a 2:01.2 victory in the DSBF 2nd prelim week.
Carlo Poliseno trains and drives the Dusty Winner-Koala Kat filly for owner Jane Dunavant. Last month, after sweeping her Virginia stakes and previous DSBF prelims, she broke stride early as favorite in the $100,000 Harrington Final, her only loss. The filly has earned $60,845 in purses. Princess Politics (Wayne Long) was second with Unshakeable Peace (Eddie Dennis) third.
Miss Baltimore and Tony Morgan recorded her second straight DSBF prelim win notching a 2:03 triumph in the 2nd prelim. Don Marine owns the Master Lavec-Country Inn filly trained by Kyle Moore. Triple Bottom Line (Jeff Fout) closed strong but broke stride nearing the finish line and finished second. Devlin (Poliseno) finished third.
The top eight point-getters after the two prelims will race in the $100,000 DSBF Final.
The $18,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Open topped the regular portion of the program. Tim Tetrick pulled Little Ben out of fourth on the final turn and ground down leader Remember e VK (Montrell Teague) in the stretch to go on for a lifetime mark 1:49.3 victory. Shiretown Pitbull (Sean Bier) closed in a hurry to edge fast finishing Captive Audience (Corey Callahan) surging along the passing lane for second.
A second 1:49.3 winner was Kovach Stables’ Feel Like A Fool piloted by Corey Callahan in a $12,000 Male pace. Rock N Roll Jet (Art Stafford Jr.) was next. Mustang Art (Brett Miller) was the show horse.
Brody, owned and driven by Sean Bier won for the sixth time this season, notching a 1:52.4 win in the $15,500 3,4&5-Year-Old pace. The Crissy Bier trained Real Artist-Glenmunt Suestur gelding was followed by Swing City (Marcus Miller) with One Last Roadie (Tetrick) third.
Laughing Matters just got up in 1:51.1 for Art Stafford Jr. to win the $25,000-$30,000 Male Claiming Handicap. In the tight photo were Giant Sculpture (Allan Davis) and Movie Idol (Corey Callahan).
In a $14,000 Male Winners-Over pace, Tim Tetrick took Richard Poilucci’s Dapper Dude right to the front and was never headed in a 1:50.2 triumph, his second win in-a-row. The six-year-old chestnut son of The Panderosa-Dress To Suggest was followed by Don’t Ya Know (Brett Miller), second, and Papa Ray (Allan Davis), third).
Tim Tetrick had three winners, Sean Bier and Ross Wolfenden had doubles.
,Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are dark live racing days at Dover Downs Two $20,000 DSBF freshman colt 2nd leg pace prelims and an $18,000 Open trot tops the Monday card.
