Racing Queensland (RQ) is pleased to announce another lucrative race series during the summer period.
During the months of December, January and February a new series known as the 'Dash For Cash' will take place at Albion Park on a weekly basis with restricted penalty heats of $3000 on Tuesday followed by a career penalty final of $20,000 staged on Saturday night.
The ‘Dash For Cash’ will be run in conjunction with the current Seymour Rising Stars Championship which has proven to be an excellent concept.
"The purpose for this series is obviously to allow stakeholders to race for better prizemoney while we want to maintain strong numbers through what is generally considered a slowdown period for the industry owing to Christmas holiday breaks. We want to keep building momentum here in Queensland." Harness Board Director Greg Mitchell said.
The ‘Dash For Cash’ will be aimed at pacers assessed between C0 to C5 with all races staged over 1660m.
Unlike the Seymour Rising Stars Series, the ‘Dash For Cash’ will have conditions where horses must have had two starts in Queensland in the last two months.
"The Seymour Rising Stars concept has been a huge success with great racing each and every week with the series attracting very strong numbers both on and off the track and we see no reason why this can't continue with the Dash For Cash series.
Again, this series wouldn't have been made possible without the generous support from Kevin and Kay Seymour who are sponsoring this series for another $5000 a week over this period." Mitchell added.
Also, commencing next month will be another series where $2000 graduation penalty heats will be staged on Monday afternoon before a $7000 career penalty final will be held on the Saturday night.
The $7000 prizemoney for the final consists of $6000 plus $1000 sponsorship again kindly provided by Kevin and Kay Seymour.
This series will be conducted once per month.
The first of this series begins on Monday, 21st October with the final on Saturday, 26th October which coincides with the Queensland Pacing Championship race night.
