BOLD EAGLE FINISHES SIXTH

The 11/1 outsider Delia du Pommereux (5f Niky-Noune du Pommereux) rallied to lead in the lane for driver Damien Bonne and then held off the charging 5.8/1 Belina Josselyn (7f Love You-Lezira Josselyn) to narrowly win the Grand Prix du Bourbonnais (Gr. Ii International, purse 120,000€, 2850 meters) at Vincennes, France on Saturday.

The first three finishers earn a Prix d’Amerique invitation. Sylvain Roger trains the winner for breeder/owner Noel Lolic as she recorded her 12th career victory in 39 starts, now for 812,250€ earned.

Delia was second in the Prix Bretagne on November 18th. Belina Josselyn was handled by her trainer Jean Michel Bazire for breeder/owner Yvan Bernard. Race time was 1.13kr off even fractions (1.13.9kr at 1500 meters remaining; 1.13.3 at the 1000 and 1.12.6kr with 500 to go).

The 6.6/1 Bird Parker (7m Ready Cash-Belisha) was third with J.Ph. Monclin driving for trainer Philippe Allaire and owner Elisabeth Allaire. Carat Williams (6m Prodigious) was fourth for David Thomain ahead of Briac Dark (7m Prince Gede) with Matthieu Abrivard up.

Heavy favorite Bold Eagle was a fading sixth followed by Uza Josselyn and Traders.

Bold Eagle was away near the back and then made a decisive three wide brush to the front around the final bend. He was unable to sustain winning speed by mid-stretch. The great champion raced barefoot for the first time. Replay link follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2ye2l6Muh8
