Dirt Track Momma will look to keep her three race win streak alive as she faces off with the region's top harness racing mares Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First race post time is 7 pm, with the $2,200 Open Mares event going post ward in race 11.

Race Analyst Les MacIsaac is backing Dirt Track Momma from post 3. Neal Moase trains the E Dees Cam mare, and Marc Campbell does the driving.

“She's firing on all cylinders right now with three straight wins,” MacIsaac says. “She looks like the favourite again and rightly so but a short price is better than a long face. Until she gets knocked off we'll stay on her bandwagon.”

Her main competition looks to be two spots to her left and two spots to her right, with Bunny Mach (Jason Hughes) off the rail and General Lucky Percy (Brodie MacPhee) from post 5. Bunny Mach is a recent ship in for trainer Nick MacGillivray and owner Brian Foley of Charlottetown. The eight-year-old Mach Three mare had been racing the top mares at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ont.

Other entries in the eight horse affair include Too Ideal (Brian Andrew), JK Special (Walter Cheverie), Doober Hoozzitz (Terry Gallant), Mylittlerebel (Mark Bradley), and Private Joke (Gary Chappell).

The evening’s trot event lines up in race 4 with the veteran Saulsbrook Balance favoured from post 7 for co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDonald, co-owner Tanya MacKinnon and driver Willie Murphy.

“The seven hole could complicate matters but he drops out of the open class for this one and if Willie is able to put him on the front without being used too hard, his chances go way up,” MacIsaac says.

Other favourites include newcomer Abundaspin (Harold Shepherd) and Duvar Road (Norman Myers).

Camcun is picked to win the race 12 back-up pace for trainer-driver and co-owner Kenny Arsenault and co-owner Dan Belliveau. Other top picks in the $1,550 contest include Ebandtheboys (Cheverie) and Stimulus Bill (Campbell).

Lives racing continues Saturday night at 6 pm at Red Shores Charlottetown and Sunday at 1 pm at Red Shores Summerside.
