Winning Streaks

Horses with long winning streaks dot the daily harness racing programs and Manhattan Rusty N, currently, is king of the claimers . The pacer won his fifth straight Thursday (3/6) and was claimed for the third time in four races, this time for $30,000. Ideal American stretch his win streak to four in-a-row, Fire In The Belly also is on a four-win tear, and five of six and six of his last eight races. Spinfiniti has a three win-streak, and with seven wins in his eight races this year.

Win-streaks recently terminated: Sea Harrier's streak came to an end; he now has won five of his previous seven. Lindwood Player recently saw a three straight streak end. Earlier, Jeremes General won three straight. Another streak that went down was Just A Jolt's three straight, Thursday (3/6). Three Ten also finished second last week after three wins in-a-row. Sound The Belle saw her three-win streak end on Wednesday.

During this season, Corey Callahan has won 133 races, tops in the sport in 2014. He leads runner-up Aaron Merriman, second with 109. Dave Palone is third, 99 wins, and Ron Pierce is fourth with 89 winners. Other Dover Downs drivers in the top 30 are Ross Wolfenden, 58, Trace Tetrick and Vic Kirby, 47, Allan Davis, 43 and Tony Morgan 35.

The Ron Burke Stable has 114 wins already. Rene Allard is a distant second with 47 wins, Josh Green, fourth in the sport's standings, has 37 wins and Dylan Davis, fifth, with 36 so far in 2014.

In Dover Downs standings, Corey Callahan is nearing the 200 mark in winning drives, since meet opening day, Nov. 3, he has all but clinched his fifth consecutive track title. Callahan has won 194 races. Ross Wolfenden has moved into second place with 98 wins. Allan Davis is third with 94 winners. A big win-week by Vic Kirby, winning four races Tuesday and five on Wednesday, put him in fourth place with 90 winners while Ron Pierce is now fifth, with 87 wins.

Dylan Davis has extended his first place lead in the trainer standings with 57 wins. Wayne Givens is second with 41 winners. Trish Foulk is third with 40 wins. Joe Hundertpfund is fourth win 39 wins and Josh Green with 37 wins, is fifth in the standings.
