CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Down On My Luck found all the luck he needed as he circled the field in the preferred pace stretch drive Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Walter Cheverie engineered the winning trip as he guided the Patrick Shepherd trained pacer from sixth at the head of stretch and powered past his foes to upset at 17-1 odds.
Half Cut powered to the lead in the $3,000 preferred pace and driver Mark Bradley cut out splits of 27.1, 55.4 and 1:25.1 before finding himself unable to fight off Down On My Luck in the stretch drive. Half Cut finished second in the 1:55.1 mile while Do Over Hanover (Driven by Jason Hughes) was third to complete the whopping $1,132.20 triactor ticket.

Trainer Kevin Gilles scored a training double as Top Of The Morning (Kyle Gillis) was a 2:00.2 winner and Jeb (Hughes) won in 1:58.1.
The card had a pair of $2,800 Open Mares paces with Sodwana Bay (Barrieau) winning one in 1:57.4 and the other split going to Traces Of Purple (Marc Campbell) in 1:56.3.
