Reigning Mares Classic winner Gotta Go Gabbana will get a wonderful opportunity to enter this year’s edition of the race in winning form, having drawn barrier one for the Group 2 Norms Daughter Classic (2130m) at Gloucester Park this Friday night.
The Annie Belton-trained mare made a sound return to racing last Friday night when fourth to Our Alfie Romeo, despite having to do much of the bullocking work in the breeze.
The Greg and Skye Bond-trained pair Our Alfie Romeo and Wainui Creek took out the opening two races at Gloucester Park last Friday night and they will look to enhance their chances from barrier two and five respectively this Friday.
Balcatherine has made an impressive return to racing this campaign, but she will have her work cut out in this week’s $50,000 event from barrier six.
Typhoon Tiff has been a model of consistency this campaign as well, recording three wins and three placings in nine starts.
The Colin Brown-trained mare will start from barrier 12 this Friday night.
Meanwhile, Chicago Bull has again drawn inside Shockwave for the Pat Cranley Memorial (2130m), also on Friday night.
Chicago Bull drew barrier three for the $25,000 event, while Shockwave will start from barrier five.
The Gary Hall Snr-trained pacer has drawn barrier one in his past two starts and will look to round out his Fremantle Cup preparations in winning style.
Convert Denario, trained by the in-form Ray Williams, could have a big say in the early speed battle, having drawn barrier one.
Stuart McDonald will drive Chicago Bull in the Pat Cranley Memorial, with regular driver Gary Hall Jnr out suspended.
McDonald told TABradio prior to the barrier draw he wanted to draw inside Shockwave and was looking forward to teaming up with the seven-year-old.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he told TABradio.
“He’s going very well obviously.
“I’ve driven him once before and it’s good to get an opportunity to drive him again.”
Im Full Of Excuses also makes his return to racing in the Free-For-All event and has drawn barrier two.
Perfect Major gets his first look at FFA racing in WA and will start from barrier four.
