Top pacing mare Dream About Me has claimed victory in a nail-biting finish to the (Gr 3) Hannon Memorial at Oamaru yesterday.

The All Stars trained Dream About Me who had been winless for the previous year and a half, got up to win the time honored event by a head at the line from the leader A G's Whitesocks, who fought gamely when headed.

Captain Dolmio rushed home late for third a further head away in a thrilling three way finish.

The 6yo Bettor's Delight mare ran the 2600m from a stand in 3-14.7 with a final 800m in 56.1 and a closing 400m in 27.3 seconds.

Tim Williams who drove Dream About Me thought the mare was coming back to her best before the race.

"She has been working well and at her best she would be too good for this field," he said confidently.

Those were prophetic words from Williams who had a good day in the sulky. He also won two other races on the program, both trotters and both for trainers Craig and Aimee Edmonds.

One of those was She Aint No Angel who finally got her act together after breaking at her previous few starts and also at the trials. The 5yo Love You mare trotted faultlessly and was way too good winning untouched by more than two lengths from a fast finishing Eden Creek.

The other winner for Williams was Muscles Galore who also stepped up and beat a good field of trotters for the rating 60 and faster horses.

Aided by a superb drive from Williams, Muscles Galore was buried back on the fence early but weaved through the traffic at the 600m before zooming up the inside in the straight to win easily. Hey Yo and Jack Harrington were second and Alderbeck caught the eye whistling home late from near last on the turn for driver Brad Williamson.

TAB bookmakers reacted to the win of Dream About Me in the Hannon by dropping her price into $10 on the fixed odds futures market for the New Zealand Cup.
