Seven members of TROTBritain have been selected by the committee to compete in the May 21 French/British Challenge at Amiens Racecourse in France.
The evening program will feature the Prix De Grande-Bretagne event with a purse of 16,000 euros and the race will be held on Course E at a distance of 2,400 meters.
Representing TROTBritain in the 14 horse field will be Mike Evans, John Foy, Paul Mathers, Jr., Gregor Menzies, Phil O'Neill, Ian Pimlott and Joseph Ripley.
The drivers were selected for their personal commitment to the TROTBritain/LeTrot partnership since its inception. All of the participants have driven, trained and mostly owned French trotters that have competed in the UK in LeTrot races.
Pimlott, the oldest driver of the group at 66, had the top trotter Solicitor last season in the LeTrot series. He has driven in races around the world and has been driving trotters since he was 14.
Since 2014, TrotBritain and LeTrot have worked together in setting up LeTrot races throughout Great Britain along with the purchase of French trotters and broodmares to help startup the breeding program in Great Britain and Ireland.
The French drivers will be coming to Great Britain to drive against the TROTBritain crew at a later date.
The LeTrot Series in the UK gets underway on Saturday night with a ten horse field at Tir Prince and also on Sunday at Amman Valley with a six horse field. The series takes place at UK tracks through October this year. Ireland also has its own LeTrot Series.
