HARLOTTETOWN, PE – The start of the race was not agreeable to E R Quinn but he made up for it at the finish Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Going off as the post time betting favourite, E R Quinn made a break in stride at the commencement of the race but harness racing driver Gilles Barrieau was able to get him back on stride and map out a winning trip in the $2,600 featured event. The Jeff Holmes trainee stopped the clock in 1:57.3 as he prevailed over IC True Grit (Driven by Mike McGuigan) and Tempo Seelster (Ken Murphy). Orwell Bay Stable of Orwell owns the winning horse.
Marc Campbell continued his dominance of the driving standings as he accomplished an incredible rare feat, hitting the wire first in all four of his drives on the 10-dash program. The Winsloe reinsman kicked the action off in his first assignment in race 2 winning with Arc Light in 1:59.2 from his own stable, the followed it up in race 3 with a 1:59.4 score aboard Scoot Out Of Here for trainer Vaughan Doyle. Freddie continued his trotting dominance in the first trot class of the season with a 2:03.1 score in the $2,200 event for trainer-driver Campbell. The driver’s fourth and final mount was Jetster from his own barn, who visited the winner’s circle after a 1:59.2 score.
