WASHINGTON, PA, July 24, 2019 — Dismissed at 10-1, EZ Passer used the Lightning Lane to perfection to pull off the upset in Wednesday’s harness racing feature at The Meadows, an $11,500 Filly & Mare Conditioned Trot.
Northern Lightning led the field through a 1:25.1 three-quarters, But Chris Shaw and EZ Passer lurked in the pocket, waiting to flash some lightning off their own. The 5-year-old daughter of Crazed-Musclegrad easily overtook Northern Lightning and scored in 1:54.4, a length better than Joplin. Golden Muscle completed the ticket.
Bill Zendt trains EZ Passer, who won her second straight and lifted her lifetime bankroll to $228,772, for Shanamphilankilou, Inc.
Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday with a special Adios Week program that features a pair of $30,000 Grand Circuit stakes for freshman trotters as well as a $5,370.08 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 5:30 PM.
