In an exclusive Harnesslink.com interview with Emilio Estevez late Wednesday night, the director/producer of the upcoming harness racing movie, Johnny Longshot, talked about the movie trailer being leaked out Wednesday afternoon.
“The finished product won’t be ready until next week,” Estevez said. Let’s let this go out and leave it in God’s hands. I’m OK with that.
“I am a huge fan of the sport,” Estevez explained, “and I believe "Johnny Longshot" is a feel good family film that there are not enough of. And Hollywood, sadly, no longer makes movies like that.
“While I'm bummed the trailer got out in the open before it was ready,” Estevez said, “there is something beautifully unpolished about it, which makes it all the more emotional.”
Estevez and his film crew were at the Delaware County Fair in Ohio the week of the Little Brown Jug in September and shot a lot of “B roll” that was used in the movie trailer.
“Tim Tetrick let me use his racing colors for the shoot.” Estevez said. “And trainer Tony Alagna gave me his racing helmet to use and we had to paint it to match Tim’s racing colors.”
Estevez would not comment on when actual filming of the movie will begin. Most of the shoot will take place in Ohio, where Estevez grew up.
