Rocknroll Hanover - one a very special horse, and now a top stallion.

Empire Stallions' flagship Rocknroll Hanover topped the sire averages at the Australian Pacing Gold Melbourne harness racing sale held at Oaklands Junction on Sunday (February 3).

A colt by Empire Stallions' Somebeachsomewhere colt out of the 1:59 In The Pocket mare Twice As Hot, offered as Lot 117 by Les Johnson's Atworthy Park, The Rock (NSW), topped the Australian Pacing Gold Melbourne sale at $110,000 on Sunday (February 3).

The strapping colt ranks as a half-brother to this year's South Australian Derby winner Flaming Flutter 2, 1:53.9 ($77,839). 'Somebeach's' Empire studmate Rocknroll Hanover topped the sire averages at the sale.

'Rocknroll' had two head sold on the day at an average price of $50,000.

They included a colt out of the 1:50.6 $1.1-million winning Fake Left mare Miss Galvinator, offered by prominent Perth breeder Robert Watson, which sold for $75,000 to a syndicate headed by Ballarat businessman Tim Bunning.

The syndicate, who race a large team out of the Emma Stewart barn, won the $20,000 Premiere Stakes at Tabcorp Park, Melton the previous night with the Rocknroll Hanover two-year-old colt Yankee Rockstar.

Somebeachsomewhere produced the second highest average with $38,318 for eleven head sold on the day.He had eight colts sell for an average of $43,188 and three fillies at $25,333.

A colt by former USA 3YO of the Year and Little Brown Jug winner Tell All, from the Cam Fella mare Cam's Coup de Grace, offered by Garry Hawthorn and Jenny Gallagher, fetched $50,000 on the day.
