News from Italy and Hungary highlights this report of  weekend activity.

Italy staged several graded events at Montegiorgio on Saturday and Modena on Sunday. Four-year-olds battled Saturday with Roger Prav (by Daguet Rapide) winning in a quick 1.12.5kr for Antonio Greppi in the €45,100 Grand Prix San Paolo.

On Sunday the three year-olds took center stage with the €154,000 Tito Giovanardi Open going to the Holger Ehlert trained Sing Hallelujah (by SJs Caviar). The €55,000 Carlo Carriari for fillies  went to the Dream Vacation sired Sweat OK with Tommaso Di Lorenzo at the lines.

At Kincsem Park (Budapest) the featured Speedy Foster Handicap went to Tibor Hajnal’s Italian import Orifiamma Jet, an easy winner in 1.15.4kr over 1800 meters autostart. She is a half-sister to third place Smeralda Jet on Sunday at Modena in the Carlo Cacciari for fillies.

The prior weekend (May 3) a classic heat race, the Majusi Nagydij over 1960 meters distance handicap, went to the Wall Street Banker mare Orangyal in consecutive heats for trainer/driver Pal Vicen. Purse was 1.8HUf million. Nick Nolte took second placing with his 3-2 finish in the heats.

The companion feature that day, the 1.8HUf million Laszlo Fergy Memorial for three year-olds, went to Salt Lake City with veteran trainer/driver Imre Fazekas up for owner/breeder Pimri Bt. Fazekas has represented his country in past driver’s world championship competition. Two Wall Street Banker offspring, bred by legendary commercial breeder Kabela Menes Kft., took the next two spots.
