Victorian visitor Exciteusinthecity returned to Betezy Park Globe Derby for the first time since winner there as 3 year old is a blaze of glory to take out the 2013 Christmas Cup for the fast class pacers.
Perfectly driven by Tim Mclean Eciteusinthecity used the sprint lane in the home straight to down the gallant Lord Monaloo , who was game in defeat after being taken on a couple of times in the run, by 2.3 meters with Mark Dennis who made a three wide move mid race to put pressure on Lord Monaloo hanging on for third a further 9 meters back.
Owner/trainer Darren Cole was delighted with the win and return to form of Exciteusinthecity who last couple of starts had finished down the track at Melton behind Abettorpunt and before that eighth in the Stawell Cup to smart pacer Arber. Cole said "hopefully we will back if he gets a start in the SA Cup ".
Local Lord Monaloo who was having his first start in open company found the lead from the inside was tackled early by Glenferrie Rustler and then whenmade a mid race move on Mark Dennis the pressure went on again up front.
The other main event was the final of the Graham Maguire Pace which was taken out by thetrained Stonethachristian who held on after working hard to find the front to beat Stashedbytheriver by a head, for driver it was his 52nd winner of the season.
A large crowd was in attendance to witness the action on the track while off the track Santa arrival after race 5 had the kids in a frenzy the old fella in the red suit arrived in a two seated sulky before dismounting to hand out lollies to all the young harness racing followers, SA BOTRA organise this event every year and this year nearly 200 kids got to tell Santa what they wanted him to bring them for Christmas, BOTRA also drew its Christmas raffle and the wheelbarrow of goodies was won by David Jolly.
