Illinois conceived and foaled freshmen pacers took centre stage on Thursday night (December 22) as a field of nine colts and geldings met in the $10,000 Incredible Finales Series Final.

Returning to the scene of his opening round triumph Brian Loman, Brian Kaiser & Dale Richeson’s up and coming youngster Fox Valley Appeal continued to impress in the late stages of his opening season as he cruised to a 6 ¾ length victory in a career best of 1:54.1.

Taking advantage of a perfect trip after driver Andy Miller guided this gelding into the two-hole early in the first turn Fox Valley Appeal sat right on the back of Dr. Lon (Tim Tetrick) as the even-money favourite rolled through fractions of 28.3 seconds, 56.3s and 1:26.2.

As the leg weary pacesetter began to drift out in the lane, Miller urged his charge through an opening on the inside and the son of Sportsmaster responded beautifully as he charged home in 28.0 while blowing away his eight rivals. The place honours wound up producing quite a finish as Dr. Lon, Fox Valley Bigshot (Doug Hamilton) and Luckability (Jason Dillander) all hit the wire on even terms to produce a rare three horse dead-heat.

The win was the fourth in eight career starts for the Rick Schrock trainee. He also has three seconds and one third to his credit and has never missed hitting the board while earning $17,337 for his connections.

Sent off as the second choice in the wagering Fox Valley Appeal returned $5.40, $2.60 & $2.60.
