A world record was all it took to win the Camarda and Cantrill New South Wales Derby at Tabcorp Park Menangle today.
And the horse to do the job was the flashy Victorian Major Secret, who clocked 1:55.6 in the 2400m Group One to break the three-year-old mark.
Causing another upset of the day, the-trained colt held out the $2.30 favourite Bling It On by a neck to claim the record and come away with the biggest win of his 17-start career.
The world record was previously held by Smolda, who set the mark of 1:56.1 when winning the 2012 NSW Derby.
But this isn't the only record Major Secret has set.
The star son ofequalled the Australian record for 2400m in the process and now shares the title with Excel Stride who clocked 1:55.6 when winning a heat of the Inter Dominion last year.
Major Secret has now won eight of his 17 starts.
