The 2 year old Minnesota-Sired trotters took the spotlight on the Tuesday night harness racing card at Running Aces, with 3 geldings, 1 colt and 2 fillies going to post for a $15,000 purse.
The fillies dominated the contest tonight, with Imapixieatmidnight (by Sos Lunar Eclipse) rushing out to a big early lead for driver Nick Roland, setting the fractions of 30.0, 1:01.4 and 1:32.1 before being challenged by pocket-sitter, and winner last time Silent Dreams (by Money Talks) with Dean Magee at the controls.
Silent Dreams pulled away gamely in the homestretch to win by 4 ½ lengths, paying $3.00 as the favorite, with Imapixieatmidnight a clear second, and Al Mar FoxyEclipse (Adam Hauser) a distant third.
The final time tonight of 2:03.3 shaved a full 5 seconds off the previous lifetime best for the winning filly, who is now perfect in her 2 lifetime starts, she is owned by Glen and Jody Wilson, and trained by Brett Ballinger.
WhatitdoBabyBoo (by Voracious Hanover) put in a huge effort to win her $7,500 2 year old Minnesota Fillies pace, after making an early break in the mile, and another at the ¾ pole, she stormed by the entire field in the homestretch to post a 1 ¼ length win in 2:01.3 with Steve Wiseman in the sulky, for owners The Van Otterloo Stables, and trainer David Flynn.
She paid $8.80 to win after making up 15 lengths in the stretch.
DeweyDidDoneGood (by Voracious Hanover) was very sharp in winning his $7,500 2 year old Minnesota pace for colts & geldings, drawing away from the field after taking control past the 5/8 pole, he went on to score by 4¼ lengths in 1:58.1 in reign to Dean Magee for owner Richard Davelaar and trainer David Flynn, who had two wins in the 2 year old races tonight. He paid a nice $18.40 to win.
Drivers Dean Magee and Steve Wiseman both posted driving doubles on the card. The next card of live harness racing goes to post on Saturday Night, July 16, at 6:00 pm CDT. Running Aces will be adding Live Racing on Wednesdays, starting on July 27th, with a 7:00 post.
