Two year old trotters are hard to rely on early in their careers as they learn the harness racing game.

For a two year old trotter to win on debut at two is even harder and is usually a good sign of better things to come.

So it is with Agent Maori who won the two year old trotters race at Ballarat yesterday (Sunday June 22nd).

Never looking like putting a foot wrong from the time the tapes went, Agent Maori got a nice run up on the inside down the back straight and went on from there for a comfortable win on debut.

With the bloodlines he has it is no wonder that Agent Maori is showing such promise.

He is by Federal Flex, one of five two year olds Federal Flex has in Australia and it was the first winner for this first season sire.

Federal Flex is a son of the champion sire, Muscles Yankee and was an outstanding racehorse in his own right in North America.

Federal Flex only started 15 times in his career for 8 wins and 3 placings, taking a mark of 1:53.3 on his way to winning stakes totaling $840,643.

His oldest crop in North America are currently three year olds and he already has some promising types on the track.

Flexible Woman 1:56.4 ($61,738)  Rival Seelster 2:00.1 ($53,580) and Please Ok 1:56.3 ($38,550) are all performing well why Sheer Flex potentially looks the best of them, winning his second start at two last year in 1:55.1 and just starting to race at three now.

Half way through the three year old season his stock have won $466,604 and he has several qualifiers yet to race so his numbers should continue to improve.

On the dams side Agent Maori is the first foal from Windsongs Maori, an unraced daughter of the brilliant Pine Chip trotting mare Sumthingaboutmaori 31 wins ($461,499).

It is a trotting family that needs no introduction in Australasia and Agent Maori looks the latest smart racehorse that this famous family has produced.

When you look at how well bred Agent Maori is coupled with his manners and ability, this two year old son of Federal Flex does look to have a bright future.
