The forgotten horse when the four year old harness racing season was being assessed in the media last week might just be the next New Zealand Cup winner.
The $750,000 hallowed event in harness racing is the main aim of ULTIMATE MACHETE who is not far off resuming work at All Stars.
A multi Group One winner in a season aborted by injury Mark is expecting he will be able to race again in September and it will be all go from there.
"The Cup is the race we are aiming him for. He will come back during the winter for a quiet build up and he should be fine by the spring" Mark said.
Ultimate Machete was sidelined by a leg problem early in the year when looking to become a big star in Australia. But it was not nearly as bad as that which affected Vincent hence his earlier return.
"We caught it early and were able to manage it whereas Vincent's injury was just one of those things out of the blue you can't do so much about" Mark said.
Ultimate Machete's big win here was in the NZ Free For All in November before adding the four year odl Group One feature of the Perth Interdominion carnival.
