Jaguar Royal N will make his final start of his career during Saturday afternoon's 14 dash harness racing program at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Post time is 1pm. The action will be carried at www.redshores.ca
The 14 year-old veteran pacer, who faces retirement at the end of the 2012 race season, drew post 3 in race 8 for trainer David Rose, owner Sandra Stead of Montague and driver Mark Bradley. The son of Jaguar Spur-Royalty has 47 lifetime wins and a career best of 1:52.1 taken as a seven-year-old at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
This season the classy pacer has six wins, two seconds and two thirds from 16 starts including being charted in an amazing 1:58.2 mile earlier this year. Sandra Stead, along with her husband Lowell, has planned a retirement race for Jaguar Royal N on Boxing Day where he will lead in the post parade.
With only three race cards remaining on the 2012 schedule, the Trot Challenge driver standings is too close to call. The competition, presented by Johnston’s Salads and Keybrand Foods Inc, is for drivers with trotters throughout the season with points awarded on a 10-7-5 basis for a 1-2-3 finish. The overall winner receives a $1 per point and the championship trophy.
Marc Campbell took over the lead with 162 points with his second place finish last week. Mark Cullen is second with 157 while Willie Murphy, who sat out last week, is third with 155. Murphy has a 3-1 shot aboard Saulsbrook Balance but will need to knock-off Warrawee Jade from the Andrew Stable who has two wins in a row. Trainer Brian Andrew will do the driving from post 7 while Dunmore Alpha, with Cullen in the bike, is morning line favorite.
Last Art on Deck is the early favorite in the afternoon feature race 13. Trained by Nick MacGillivray and owned by Ian Drake of Vernon Bridge, Last Art on Deck has been first or second in four of his last five starts said race analyst Les MacIsaac. Jason Hughes will do the driving. The field also includes Life Savior, Mchales Gravy, Highland Gladiator, Le Fugueur, Keystone Dimitri, Rebelryan and Roccos Cavallo.
