Continuing their official grand opening festivities throughout the months of May and June, officials at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will provide a host of entertainment options that are free to the public this weekend, May 8-10.

Guests can meet Pro Football Hall of Famer Franco Harris, witness skydiving from the world famous "Flying Elvi," and watch live musical entertainment at the newly opened stage in Silks Lounge.

Harris, who played for Penn State and won four Super Bowls as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, will sign autographs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. While autographs are free, donations will be accepted to benefit the Washington Women's Shelter. The shelter is a 24-hour safe haven for victims of domestic violence and provides important family programming.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, the Flying Elvi are scheduled to land in the infield of the historic Meadows racetrack. The Flying Elvi gained worldwide acclaim after appearing in the hit Hollywood movie, "Honeymoon in Vegas," starring Nicholas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker. People of all ages are welcome to view the landing from the new grandstand.

Free live music continues all weekend. On Friday and Saturday, Boston-area singer-songwriter Dan Baker will perform at 8 p.m. in Pacers Bar. At 9 p.m. Friday, local band Rubicon Crossing, which plays 1960s and 70s favorites, will perform at Silks. Taking the stage at Silks for the first time at 9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday is the famous Johnny Fortuno, a Las Vegas favorite who will perform his show, "Tribute to the King."

"The Meadows is committed to being a true entertainment destination," said Meadows Vice President and General Manager Michael Graninger. "Whether you love good live music, want to meet a Pro Football Hall of Famer or see the world's best - and funniest - skydivers, we're going to have a little something for everyone this weekend."

The first to open in southwestern Pennsylvania, the state-of-the-art Meadows Racetrack & Casino includes 3,700 slot machines, an electronic table games pit, premier restaurants with spectacular views of the gaming floor and the race track, a new racing grandstand, simulcast area, bowling center, and VIP super boxes.

The 350,000-square-foot entertainment destination is owned by Las Vegas-based Cannery Casino Resorts (CCR). CCR is investing more than $450 million into the property.
