Freddy Bear went all the way after inheriting the lead in the Flamboro Downs Preferred 3 pace on Sunday, Mar. 14.
He left out second-quickest in rein to Jason Ryan as Beachin Lindy (Travis Henry) forged ahead into the first turn, only to promptly break stride. Ryan drove his seven-year-old stallion through splits of 29, 58.3, and 1:27, and he looked to get away from the field.
Shades Of Bay (Austin Sorrie) was the only horse that turned for home with a chance, but that quickly fell flat as Freddy Bear finished the job for a one-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:55. Shades Of Bay took second, and About A Boy (Scott Coulter) came from midpack to land the show spot.
Freddy Bear earned his 14th lifetime win from 125 outings and has now raked in $209,000. 1187422 Ontario Inc. of Ottawa owns the son of Western Terror; Ryan also trains.
Also on the card, Emma Christoforou recorded her first lifetime win as a trainer with Millennium Seelster in the sixth race. Millenium Seelster (J Bradley Harris) was seven-and-three-quarter-lengths the best in a start-to-finish 1:55.4 romp.
Charlambos Christoforou owns the five-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding that is now four-for-27 all-time with more than $35,000 in earnings.
Amanda Fine took her first training victory of 2021 with P L Ozzy in the seventh, as did Stephen Doyle in the fourth with Frontier Cruise and Ron Waples Jr. with You Can’t Habit in the third.
Flamboro will be back in action on Thursday, Mar. 18.
