Harness racing giant Ron Pierce, who drove six winners Monday, continued with a hot hand piloting four winners including Freedom Crossing to nip Mystra in the final step in the $27,500 Mares Open/Handicap pace on Wednesday, April 3 at Dover, Del.
Heres My Ticket won the first of three $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old Filly pace 2nd leg preliminaries and Two Cam and Mac’s Journey won the other two to lead qualifiers for next Tuesday’s $100,000 finals.
Bay Pond Racing’s Freedom Crossing closed in better than :27.4 along the passing lane to win for the first time since January in a lifetime best 1:51.3 record in the $27,500 top distaff event of the week. It was Ron Pierce’s third of four wins. The-Bunker To Bunker five-year-old trained by Wayne Givens boosted her career earnings to $212,891of which $37,540 have come in 2012. Mystra (Brad Hanners) was second with Mach Lady (Vic Kirby) third.
Village Bolero, owned by Tim Hundertpfund, got up for Ross Wolfenden to win a $19,000 Mares Winners-Over pace in 1:53.1. The fast finishing daughter of-Village Baroque conditioned by Joe Hundertpfund, rushed by In Deep Thought (Montrell Teague) and Rock N Load (Roger Plante) en route to victory .
A 26-1 shot, Martin Burton’s Real Passing Lady was the big longshot of the day. Allan Davis won his second race reining the-Passer Hanover mare to her first win of the year to take the $18,500 Red Hatters 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Peeeeyouuuuuuuu (Brad Hanners) and Rolltideroll (Ron Pierce) were second and third respectively.
In $20,000 DSBF prelims, Ross Wolfenden drove Heres My Ticket to a 1:52.3 victory in the fastest division. Eli Scott, bred, owns and trains the-Real Elegance filly. She now has two wins in four starts with a second and a third this year. Joyanna (Ben Stafford Jr.) saw her two-race win streak end with a second. Designer Bags (Allan Davis) finished third.
Two Cam, off at 7-1, had a perfect seat behind leader Roddy’s Girl (Vince Copeland) before overtaking the leader in the late going for a1:55 victory in a second $20,000 DSBF prelim. Brad Hanners picked up his second win driving the Cams Fortune–Kam’s Legacy sophomore for Jim and Joe Skowyra. Roddy’s Girl was followed by Grix Gadoo (Vic Kirby.
Mike Gannon’s Mac’s Journey won his second straight $20,000 DSBF prelim and third in-a-row this year registering a 1:54.4 score in the third filly division. Mary Martin bred and owns the-Mac's Only Iris distaff driven to success by Sean Bier for trainer Crissy Bier. Powerful Honey (Roger Plante) finished second ending a two-race win streak. Seboomook Hooter (Allan Davis) was the show finisher.
Pierce finished the card with four wins, Ross Wolfenden had three, Brad Hanners, Corey Callahan and Allan Davis won two each.
On Wednesday, Arriba Amigo, The Budster and Lets Get Serious N tangle in the $22,500 Jr. Open trot feature along with two $20,000 DSBF Colt trot prelims.
Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing on both Fridays and Saturdays.
