Spreester (American Ideal) has been a winning machine throughout her career and the locally-based mare recorded her first win of the season against feature harness racing company on Friday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
Voted as the Two Year Old and Three Year Old of the Year at the Spa in the past two seasons, Spreester graduated from New York Sire Stakes star to overnight, hard hitting mare in 2015.
In Friday's $17,900 Winners Over, the Paul Zabielski trainee moved out to the early lead and never had an anxious moment. Jimmy Devaux piloted Spreester, the race's 1-2 betting favorite, to a wire-to-wire victory in 1:54.1 holding off Bye Bye Michelle (Mark Beckwith) and Ella V Horse (Stephane Bouchard) in the stretch.
For Spreester, it was the fifth win of the season and 19th in 48 career starts en route to earnings of over $337,000 for owner Kim Zabielski of Greenfield Center, NY.
Live racing continues at Saratoga on Saturday night with a first post time set for 6:45pm.
